Acupuncturists
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow and promote healing. It is based on the belief that these points lie along meridians, or channels, through which vital energy, or "qi," flows.
An acupuncturist practitioner will carefully assess your health condition and concerns, asking questions and examining your tongue and pulse. They will then select specific acupuncture points based on your individual needs and insert fine, sterile needles into those points.
What to expect during an acupuncture session:
- Initial consultation: The practitioner will likely begin by asking you detailed questions about your health history, lifestyle, and current symptoms.
- Needle insertion: The practitioner will insert very thin, sterile needles into specific points on your body.
- Needle stimulation: Once the needles are in place, the practitioner may gently manipulate them or apply electrical stimulation to enhance their effect
- Rest and relaxation: You will typically rest quietly with the needles in place for 20-30 minutes. Many people find this time deeply relaxing and may even fall asleep.
- Needle removal: After the treatment time, the practitioner will remove the needles.
- Post-treatment: You may feel relaxed and calm after the treatment. Some people experience immediate relief from their symptoms, while others may notice gradual improvement over time
